The Peloponnese travels to Philoxenia Expo

Tribute to Tourism, Gastronomy & Culture

Gastronomy Sponsor - Hosted Buyers program Philoxenia

The Regional Association of Municipalities of Peloponnese, with the support of the Regional Development Company Parnonas S.A., is organizing a special experiential event within the framework of Philoxenia Expo in Thessaloniki — a culinary journey and an authentic encounter with the soul of the Peloponnese through its unique identity and flavors – exclusively for the Hosted Buyers program of Philoxenia.

Plato’s Plate – The Philosophy of Taste

Plato’s Plate is a creative bridge between gastronomy and philosophy — an expression of Greek gastrosophy, the culinary culture that unites ancient wisdom with contemporary creativity.
Inspired by the origins of Greek philosophical thought, Plato’s Plate highlights the culinary heritage of Greece through modern experiential gastronomy, emphasizing authenticity, sustainability, and locality as pillars of Greek cuisine.

The Peloponnese, with its rich produce and deep-rooted traditions, stands at the heart of this culinary philosophy — where every flavor tells a story, every recipe holds memories, and every place breathes culture.

Tourism in the Peloponnese – A Land of Authentic Experiences

The Peloponnese is a land of authenticity, diversity, and life. From the mountain landscapes of Arcadia and the stone-built villages of Mani to the beaches of Messinia and the castle town of Monemvasia, the region blends nature, history, culture, and gastronomy into one truly authentic destination.

Visitors to the Peloponnese can explore routes of flavor, wine tourism, and culture, participate in local festivals and agrotourism experiences, meet the people behind the products, and experience the essence of Greek hospitality in its purest form.

The Philoxenia Experience

The presentations will unfold how the destination — and by extension, the visitor — encounters tourism, taste, and culture; how an Argolis orange, a Tsakonian eggplant, or a few drops of Lakonian or/and Messinian olive oil can tell the story of a place.

The gastronomy of the Peloponnese thus emerges not only as a cultural element, but also as a powerful tool of tourism identity and sustainable development — a living connection between nature, people, and heritage.

The event will be inaugurated by Mr. Athanasios Vassilopoulos, President of the Regional Association of Municipalities of Peloponnese and Mayor of Kalamata.

The initiative is addressed to Hosted Buyers — 110 tourism professionals from 36 countries, including tour operators, MICE organizers, and hoteliers — and aims to highlight the culinary identity and cultural wealth of the Peloponnese through an experience of taste, storytelling, and inspiration.
